MOBILE WALLET – GCash has released an official statement after the e-wallet app disappeared from Google Play Store.
On Wednesday evening (January 31, 2024), GCash application reportedly disappeared from Google Play Store. Internet users tried to search for the mobile wallet app on the platform, but it is nowhere to be found.
However, the e-wallet app is still available on other platforms such as Apple’s iTunes App Store and Huawei’s AppGallery. The app has only disappeared from Google Play Store, and even a direct link to the app store produces negative results.
Unfortunately, rumors claiming that the mobile wallet would disappear circulated online, causing panic and concern among users.
The application issued a statement and warned the public about the fake news circulating on social media. The management assured users that their funds were safe and secure.
On Thursday (February 1, 2024), GCash released an official statement and explained that while they are updating certain features of the app for Android users, the application itself is not disappearing and can still be used.
The company clarified that the update is currently only available for Android users and is not yet accessible on the Play Store. This means that existing GCash users on Android devices can continue using the app without any concerns about the safety of their accounts and funds.
The firm also warned the public against downloading the app from unreliable sources, reiterating the importance of obtaining it from official and trustworthy platforms.
