Man Arrested for Allegedly Selling Firearms in Muntinlupa City

A man in Muntinlupa City has been arrested after allegedly being found in possession of various types of firearms.

In many places around the world, including the Philippines, owning firearms is regulated by law. However, some individuals choose to possess firearms illegally, leading to serious consequences for themselves and society.

Illegal possession of firearms refers to the unlawful ownership, acquisition, or possession of firearms, ammunition, or explosives without the proper permits or licenses issued by the government.

These firearms may include handguns, rifles, shotguns, and other types of weaponry. Individuals found guilty of illegal possession of firearms face serious legal consequences, including hefty fines, imprisonment, and permanent confiscation of firearms.

Recently, a man who claimed to be a former soldier was arrested following the execution of a search warrant. Prior to his arrest, police authorities had been monitoring the suspect for a month.

Police have requested that the suspect not be named yet as they have further operations planned. Among the firearms seized from the suspect’s residence were a caliber 22 handgun, a shotgun, and a caliber 22 rifle.

Muntinlupa Police Chief Police Colonel Angel Garcillano says the investigation shows that the suspect was selling these firearms, which could be used in criminal activities.

“During the process of investigation, he admitted na ito ay mga firearms na nasa possession niya talaga and it is noteworthy also na during the interview conducted, nasabi niya na itong firearms na ito ay binibenta niya sa kaniyang close friends,” Garcillano said.

However, during media interviews, the suspect denied selling the firearms, claiming that his friends were just helping him repair them. Authorities are still verifying whether the suspect is indeed a former soldier as he claimed.

This incident emphasizes the strict enforcement against illegal arms trading and the need for a thorough investigation to ensure the safety of communities.
