PAGASA Says Amihan and Shear Line to Affect PH Weather Condition
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that amihan and the shear line will bring rain over parts of the country.
On Tuesday (January 16, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and shear line will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA weather specialist Rhea Torres reported that the shear line will be affecting the northern and eastern sections of Mindanao while the Northeast Monsoon will affect Luzon and Visayas.
The shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and the Davao Region.
The monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains over the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol Region.
It will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, and the rest of Visayas.
The shear line and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of Mindanao.
Torres said that no low-pressure area was spotted within the Philippine area of responsibility.
The weather agency warned the public for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
“Because we have experienced consecutive rains during the past few days, we are advising our compatriots to take caution because flooding and landslides are possible due to moderate and at times heavy rainfall,” Torres said.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon and the eastern section of the rest of the country will be rough. The remaining parts of the country will have moderate to rough surrounding sea conditions.
