Here’s the official trailer of “My Sassy Girl” starring Toni Gonzaga and Pepe Herrera.
On Instagram, Toni Gonzaga dropped the full trailer of her upcoming film with Pepe Herrera entitled “My Sassy Girl”, PH version of this Korean movie.
“My Sassy Girl” is a top-grossing 2001 South Korean rom-com film starring Hallyu stars Jun Ji Hyun and Cha Tae Hyun. This movie was a hit not only in South Korea but also other countries such as Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
This movie played a significant role in spreading the “Korean Wave”.
Several remakes has been made. An American remake was released which starred Jesse Bradford and Elisha Cuthbert released on 2008 and a Japanese drama adaptation released on the same year casted Tsuyoshi Kusanagi and Rena Tanaka. In 2016, a sequel “My New Sassy Girl” was dropped through the collaboration of Korea and China. There are also Indian, Chinese, Nepali, Lithuanian, and Indonesian remakes. And the latest is the Philippine remake.
In the PH adaptation of this top-grossing film, Toni Gonzaga and Pepe Herrera are the lead stars of the “My Sassy Girl” Philippine version. The other stars part of the cast ensemble are Yayo Aguila, Alma Moreno, Benj Manalo, Bodjie Pascua, Boboy Garrovillo, and the late Joey Paras.
To recall, it was January 2021 when Gonzaga revealed that she would be playing the titular role in the PH adaptation. This is her dream come true.
“Twenty years after the film was released, I’m given the opportunity to play the role here in the Philippines. I consider it as a big blessing,” Gonzaga said just previously.
Over the weekend, the official trailer has been dropped along with the announcement that the movie will be released in theaters on January 31. This is directed by Fifth Solomon and produced by Viva Film. This is also the same film that marks the comeback of Toni to the big screen.
