Quezon City Police Apprehends Fake Feng Shui Expert

The Quezon City police have arrested a fake feng shui expert, accused of stealing from her clients and extorting money from them.

Fraud is like a tricky game where some people try to deceive others to get something they want, usually money or valuable things.  It happens when someone lies or tricks you to gain something valuable, like money, personal information, or possessions.

Some people might pretend to offer helpful services but are trying to take your money without giving you anything in return.

Recently, A 40-year-old man posing as a feng shui expert, accused of extorting money from her clients was arrested. The suspect, identified as Ivan Borromeo, was served a warrant of arrest in her residence at Barangay Socorro, Cubao, Quezon City.

The QC Regional Trial Court-Branch 226 issued a warrant against Borromeo who operates under the aliases “Celine” and “Mark Lester Alvarez” for cases related to estafa and theft. He is also accused of engaging in fraudulent activities since 2015.

The police revealed that Borromeo deceived individuals into giving her their personal belongings, including valuable jewelry, and convinced them to pay her money while claiming to be a feng shui expert.

According to reports, Borromeo managed to swindle around P50 million from numerous victims over the previous years. The police warned the public to observe caution when dealing with unfamiliar individuals, especially when discussions involve valuables like jewelry and cash.

On Saturday (January 13, 2024), the Quezon City police urged the public to be cautious when interacting with strangers. It reminds the public to be cautious when seeking services from unknown practitioners, even in fields like feng shui.

It emphasized the necessity of verifying the credentials and legitimacy of individuals offering specialized services, especially when dealing with personal belongings and financial matters.
