PAGASA Says Shear Line and Amihan to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the shear line and northeast monsoon will bring scattered rains over parts of the country.

On Saturday (January 6, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and shear line will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA Weather Specialist Patrick Del Mundo reported that the shear line will be affecting the eastern sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas while the amihan will affect the rest of Luzon.

The shear line and easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Bicol Region, Davao Region, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Surigao del Sur, and Surigao del Norte.

“Ang so far wala pa rin tayong na mo-monitor na low-pressure area sa loob at labas ng Philippine Area of Responsibility, nanatiling mababa ang tsansa na magkaroon tayo ng bagyo sa susunod na mga araw,” he added.

Possible flash floods or landslides are expected in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, and Quezon.

Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the remaining parts of the country. Flash floods or landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms, according to PAGASA.
