PAGASA Says Easterlies and Amihan to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that easterlies and amihan will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Tuesday (January 2, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that the northeast monsoon will be affecting Northern and Central Luzon. The easterlies will affect the rest of the country.

The easterlies will bring cloudy weather with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Mindanao.

“Makikita natin dito sa ating wind and rainfall animation ang patuloy na epekto ng amihan sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon at ‘yung easterlies, o ‘yung hangin na nanggagaling sa karagatang Pasipiko, sa nalalabing bahagi ng ating bansa [o] sa mga areas ng Visayas at Mindanao,” weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said.

It may bring rains over western and central portions of Mindanao in the next few days.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon.

Amihan will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of Calabarzon.

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the remaining parts of the country.

The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

The coastal water condition over Northern Luzon will be rough. The rest of Luzon will have moderate to rough seas. The rest of the archipelago will have slight to moderate coastal water conditions, according to PAGASA.

The weather bureau raised a gale warning over the seaboards of Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, and Ilocos Norte.
