PAGASA Says Northeast Monsoon Will Bring Light Rains Over Parts of PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE- The state weather bureau reported that northeast monsoon and easterlies will bring light rains over parts of the archipelago.

On Wednesday (December 13, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and the easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA Weather Specialist: Benison Estareja reported that the northeast monsoon will bring light rains over Northern and Central Luzon while the easterlies will be affecting the rest of the country.

“Patuloy po na umiihip ang malakas na northeast monsoon o amihan dito sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon habang ang easterlies naman o yung hanging naman mula sa pacific ocean na siyang nagdadala ng mainit na panahon in many areas of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao,” Estareja said.

Amihan will bring cloudy weather conditions with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, and Quezon.

It will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region.

Dahil po sa Northeast Monsoon asahan ang maulap na kalangitan in Eastern Luzon particularly sa may Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Northern portion of Quezon, at mga probinsya sa Cordillera region kabilang na ang Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, at Ifugao,” he added.

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the remaining parts of the country.

The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. The rest of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
