President Marcos declared December 26 Holiday a special non-working day.
DECEMBER 26 HOLIDAY – President Bongbong Marcos has declared this date as a special non-working day for this reason.
In a proclamation signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on December 12, 2023, the President Bongbong Marcos declared December 26 as a special non-working day. This way, people can spend more time with their families in this Yuletide.
This declaration was made through Proclamation No. 425.
“The declaration of 26 December 2023, Tuesday, as an additional special (non-working) day will give the people the full opportunity to celebrate the holiday with their families and loved ones,” the proclamation read.
It furthered that this long weekend will accordingly “encourage families to get together and strengthen their relationship leading to a better society” and promote domestic tourism.
As for the private sector, a proclamation will be issued by the Department of Labor and Employment for the appropriate circular for its implementation.
