Guide on Requirements for SSS Funeral Benefit Claim Application

Here is a full list of the documentary requirements for SSS Funeral Benefit claim application to the Social Security System.

In the Philippines, when a member of the Social Security System dies, his/her family or loved ones may turn to the state-run social insurance institution for a Funeral Benefit. It was crafted to financially help the bereaved family in the funeral expenses such as the costs of the coffin, funeral services, and other burial-related expenses.

As long as the member has posted at least one (1) monthly contribution to the SSS prior to his/her month of death, his/her family or loved ones may turn to the entity for a financial assistance amid their grieving period.

The claimants of the deceased members who have posted at least one (1) monthly contributions but not more than 36 monthly contributions will get a fixed rate of P12,000 as an SSS Funeral Benefit.

For the family or claimants of members with more than 36 monthly contributions, the SSS Funeral Benefit may range from Php 20,000 to Php 60,000 depending on the member’s total number of paid contributions and his/her average monthly salary credit (AMSC).
