On Friday early morning (December 8, 2023), Bacolod’s beloved singer, Kokoi Baldo, met a tragic fate after a collision with a truck along Circumferential Road in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City.
The 44-year-old singer Juan Manuel Ubaldo, also known as Kokoi Baldo and a resident of Country Homes Phase 1, lost his life in the unfortunate accident. At around 1:30 AM, Kokoi was riding his motorcycle when he attempted to overtake a pickup truck on Circumferential Road.
Unfortunately, a truck carrying sugarcane was closely following the pickup. In the attempt to pass, Baldo lost control of his motorcycle, causing him to fall and slide beneath the wheels of the truck.
The impact of the accident led to severe injuries, his head and brain were tragically crushed on the road, leading to his untimely death.
Following the incident, the truck driver promptly reported to the Bacolod City Police Station 3 for proper disposition. The authorities are now conducting a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident and establish any legal responsibilities.
Kokoi Baldo earned instant popularity as a contestant on ‘The Voice of The Philippines’ in 2014, where he showcased his unique reggae style with a memorable performance of “One Day.”
