PAGASA Says Northeast Monsoon to Prevail Over Most Parts of the Country
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that amihan will bring light rains over parts of the country.
On Thursday (December 7, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon will continue to affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA reported that the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies and rains over Northern Luzon. Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said amihan will have no significant impact in the provinces.
However, it will bring cloudy weather conditions with light rains over Batanes, Cagayan, and Apayao.
“‘Yun pong amihan ay bahagya pong lumakas at naapektuhan ang northern Luzon. Makakaranas po tayo ng maulap na kalangitan at mahihinang pag-uulan sa mga lalawigan ng Cagayan, Batanes, at Apayao,” Aurelio said.
Amihan will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.
The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
Easterlies refer to the warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean resulting in humid weather conditions.
The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas, especially those residing in low-lying areas, to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. The rest of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
The weather bureau is not monitoring any typhoons within or outside the Philippine area of responsibility.
