SUV Driver Who Tried to Confiscate the License of a Truck Driver Faces Suspension
The SUV driver who tried to take away the license of a truck driver faces preventive suspension of his license.
Recently, an incident on C5 Road in Taguig City caught the attention of the Land Transportation Office (LTO), where an SUV driver tried to take away the license of a truck driver he claimed had blocked his way.
The SUV driver, initially thought to be a police officer, is now under investigation for his actions.
In the video, the SUV driver and truck driver suddenly stopped in the middle of C5 Road. The SUV driver approached the truck and aggressively demanded, “Akin na ang lisensya mo! Akin na ang lisensya mo!”
The truck driver, aside from being accused of blocking the road, claimed that the SUV driver accused him of being on drugs. The SUV driver persistently asked for the truck driver’s license, but the truck driver stood firm and refused to give in to the SUV driver’s demands.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the SUV driver was not a police officer, contrary to his earlier claim. The truck driver filed a complaint, stating that the SUV driver threatened him by saying ‘Kukunin ko ang baril ko at babarilin kita’ at ‘Alam ko na kung saan ka nakatira.”
The Philippine National Police (PNP) clarified that, whether or not the SUV driver is a police officer, his actions were inappropriate. The PNP emphasized that only authorized officials such as Land Transportation Office enforcers, traffic enforcers, and deputized police officers have the right to confiscate a driver’s license.
The SUV driver is currently under investigation for possible violations, including reckless driving, obstruction of traffic, and improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
LTO issued a preventive suspension on the SUV driver’s license and the registration of his vehicle. This means that, for the time being, the SUV driver cannot use his vehicle on the road.
