PAGASA Says Amihan and Easterlies to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that amihan and easterlies will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Thursday (November 30, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA Weather Specialist Patrick Del Mundo reported that amihan will be affecting Northern Luzon while the easterlies will affect Southern Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy weather with rains over Apayao, Batanes, and Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands. Flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

“Sa kasalukyan ay patuloy ang pag-iral ng hanging amihan sa may Northern Luzon, magdadala ito ng mga pag-ulan sa ilang bahagi ng Northern Luzon gayon din itong easterlies na patuloy na umiiral sa may silangan bahagi ng Northern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao,” Del Mundo said.

Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country. Possible flash floods or landslides are expected in these areas during severe thunderstorms.

“Ngayong umaga ay mayroon tayong namataan na mga cloud clusters sa may bahagi ng Mindanao although hindi naman natin inaasahan na magtatagal ito at possible lamang na magtagal habang mamayang tanghali,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over Luzon will be moderate to rough. Visayas and Mindanao will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.

The weather specialist said that no tropical cyclone is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility within the next few days.
