Beauty Gonzalez showcased her vintage gold pieces at the GMA Ball this year
Kapuso actress Beauty Gonzalez answered the criticism she received for wearing vintage gold pieces during the GMA Ball last July 22.
Beauty is one of the most fashionable female celebrities in the Philippines. Browsing her Instagram page, it can be seen that the Cebuana actress is not afraid to try different styles.
She showcases a different side of herself through the clothes and accessories that she wears on different occasions.
For this year, GMA Ball, Beauty Gonzalez opted to wear a nude gown. On her neck was an attention-grabbing piece of jewelry and her matching earrings completed her look. These accessories she wore were called, “centuries old gold neck piece and earrings,” based on the article in Manila Bulletin.
The actress shared that she collected these vintage gold pieces through the years and had them reworked by Requiza Fine Jewelry. However, these did not impress art critic and curator Marian Pastor Roces. Beauty was criticized as her pieces of jewelry were allegedly illegally excavated.
A portion of Roces’s statement attacked the actress and the GMA network as well. “How on earth is this an homage, exhibiting impunity and crassness? Wearing archaeological gold death pieces, flaunting excess, is odious. Ignorance (blended with arrogance) can’t possibly be fashionable. GMA: shame on you,” the curator said.
At that time, Beauty remained silent despite the criticism she received. On the other hand, the actress was recently asked about this issue. She was asked why she chose to be silent after being criticized.
“Well, it’s better that I didn’t talk coz it’s going to be an unending conversation,” she said. Beauty Gonzalez also highlighted that respect should be there. “I respect what she believes, I respect also what I believe, and I only wish world peace,” she pointed out.
