The Pag-IBIG Fund has millions of members across the Philippines. It even has Filipino members who are currently working abroad but managed to maintain active and updated accounts to the government agency.

The Pag-IBIG Fund members submit a monthly contribution to the Fund based on the Pag-IBIG Contribution Table 2023. Regularly posting monthly savings is the way to keep your account active and updated.

Most of the offers of the government agency like loans require an updated Pag-IBIG account. Keeping it updated is one of the best preparations for the unforeseen circumstances.

A lot of companies in the Philippines require a Pag-IBIG membership from their employees. Thus, most cases of membership to the Fund are mandatory. The grounds of mandatory membership include the following:

  • employees in the private sector who are 60 years old and below and on permanent, temporary, or provisional status
  • government employees with GSIS coverage
  • self-employed individuals earning at least P1,000 per month up to 60 years of age
  • land-based overseas Filipino workers (OFWs)
  • sea-based OFWs
  • household helpers, gardeners, cooks, drivers, etc. with a salary of at least P1,000 per month
  • Filipinos employed by foreign-based employers
  • uniformed personnel like members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)

The Pag-IBIG Fund has also opened its doors for voluntary memberships. The grounds for voluntary memberships include the following:

  • non-working spouse of registered members of the Pag-IBIG Fund
  • religious group and leaders
  • public officials and employees without GSIS coverage
  • pensioners, investors, and individuals with passive income
  • Filipino employees of foreign government or international organization

As mentioned earlier, an updated account to the Pag-IBIG Fund can qualify a member to the Pag-IBIG loans. There are three (3) main loan offers that serve different purposes:

  • Pag-IBIG Housing Loan — Out of the three (3) main loans offered by the government agency, this is the most popular. It can finance any of the following purposes:
    • purchase of a residential property (house and lot, condominium unit, townhouse, apartment)
    • acquisition of a vacant lot
    • house construction
    • home renovation
    • home loan take-out from another lender
    • combined purpose
  • Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan — The Pag-IBIG Fund also offers a multi-purpose cash loan offer through the Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan or also called the MPL. It is open for members with active accounts and have posted at least 36 monthly contributions.
  • Pag-IBIG Calamity Loan — In times of natural calamities, members of the Fund who are living or working in calamity-stricken areas may apply for the Pag-IBIG Calamity Loan offer.

When a member hits the 20-year maturity, he/she may withdraw his/her savings or wait for the retirement. There are also cases when the Fund allows the withdrawal of savings just like when a member dies.

Here are the Pag-IBIG Death Claim requirements for single members without a child but with surviving parents:

  • Application for Provident Benefits (APB) Claim (1 Original)
  • Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card/Loyalty Card Plus or one (1) valid ID of the claimant (1 Photocopy)
  • Death Certificate of Member issued by PSA/NSO or LCRO (1 Photocopy)
  • Proof of Surviving Legal Heirs (HQP-PFF-030) (1 Original)
  • SSS Employment History (as applicable) (1 Photocopy)
  • Birth Certificate issued by PSA/NSO or Baptismal Certificate of the deceased member (1 Photocopy)
  • Certificate of No Marriage issued by PSA/NSO (1 Photocopy)
  • To establish kinship with the member, the claimant shall submit any of the following:
    • Birth Certificate issued by PSA/NSO or LCRO or Baptismal Certificate of the member (1 Photocopy); or
    • Non-availability of Birth Record issued by PSA/NSO (1 Photocopy) and Joint Affidavit of Two Disinterested Persons (HQP-PFF-029)

The beneficiary must submit the Pag-IBIG Death Claim requirements to a branch of the government agency nearest. Make sure to bring the original copies of all documentary requirements as they must be presented to the Pag-IBIG Fund.
