PAGASA: Shear Line, Amihan to Bring Scattered Rains Over Parts of PH

PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Tuesday (November 21, 2023)

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that Shear line and amihan will bring scattered rains over parts of the country.

On Tuesday (November 21, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The shear line and northeast monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda reported that the low-pressure area (LPA) last spotted east of Surigao City has dissipated.

The shear line will be affecting the eastern section of Visayas while the northeast monsoon will affect Luzon.

The shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Visayas, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

Possible flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley and Quezon.

Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the rest of Mindanao. Flash floods or landslides are expected during severe thunderstorms.

The coastal water condition over Luzon, Visayas, and the northern section of Mindanao will be moderate to rough. The rest of Mindanao will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.

Gale warning was raised in the following areas:

Batanes

  • Ilocos Norte
  • Ilocos Sur
  • Cagayan
  • Isabela
  • Aurora
  • Northern coast of Quezon, including the Polillo Islands
  • Calaguas Islands
  • Rapu-Rapu, Albay
  • Eastern coast of Sorsogon
  • Northern and eastern coasts of Catanduanes
  • Northern and eastern coasts of Northern Samar
  • Eastern coast of Eastern Samar

Castañeda advised the fisherfolks to observe precautionary measures during sea venture. “It is dangerous to set sail for fisherfolk, especially those with small fishing vessels,” she said.
