EARTHQUAKE: 4.9 Magnitude Quake Hit Sarangani

Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Sarangani, November 21, 2023

EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.9 magnitude quake in Sarangani today, Tuesday, November 21, 2023.

Following the 5.6 magnitude earthquake in Samar yesterday, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake hit Sarangani today. It had a magnitude of 4.9.

The earthquake today that struck Sarangani, Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 03:28 a.m., was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Glan.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Sarangani was located at 05.57°North, 125.15°East – 028 km South 12° West of Glan. It had a depth of focus of 057 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, Intensity III was felt in Tupi, South Cotabato and Maasim, Sarangani. Intenity IV was logged in General Santos City. Earthquakes are among the natural incidents that cannnot be predicted accurately as most experts in the field agree on. Thus, most countries really make sure that they have a bureau or an organization that monitors a quake incident across their nation.
