Pinoy Singer-Actor Jograd Dela Torre Passes Away
JOGRAD DELA TORRE – The Pinoy singer-actor has passed away as confirmed by his family, further details have yet to be released.
On Wednesday (November 15, 2023), Jograd Dela Torre’s sister Arlene McCullough announced the sad news on her Facebook page. Arlene posted a photo of a candle with the caption “everyone Prayer and Love to my brother @jograd dela torre who joined my papa eddie, mama betty, boy antoy and manong bebot”
The beloved celebrity had been hospitalized for three days due to an illness, and unfortunately, he eventually succumbed to it.
His friends and fellow musicians have expressed their condolences to Dela Torre’s family, honoring the legacy of the actor-musician. Meanwhile, details about his demise are not fully disclosed.
Dela Torre made a mark in the industry, particularly known for co-hosting the musical variety show “Superstar” alongside National Artist Nora Aunor and the late German “Kuya Germs” Moreno. His comedic skills and musical talent endeared him to many Filipino fans.
Jograd also made his mark in the 1986 film “Okleng Tokleng,” apart from his role in “Superstar. He was also the artist behind the political song “Kawatan,” which he sang during the height of the pork barrel scam involving Janet Napoles.
The singer revealed that he had been battling liver disease, leading to multiple hospitalizations. Despite his health complications, he remained hopeful for more years of life, expressing a desire to recover.
“Minsan nga, parang sumusuko na ako dahil inom ako nang inom ng gamot, pero mas masarap mabuhay e kaya gusto ko gumaling,” shared dela Torre during the interview.
As the Filipino entertainment industry mourns the loss of Jograd de la Torre, his contributions as a comedian, musician, and entertainer will be remembered by those who enjoyed his performances.
