Miss Universe 2023 Judges – A Filipino-American physician is named as one of the judges for the 72nd edition of Miss Universe.
The most prestigious beauty pageant in the world is set to hail a new queen following the reign of Miss Universe 2022 R’Bonney Nola Gabriel. In order to choose her successor, there is a set of judges who choose from this year’s candidates.
Based on the article in Philstar Life, the Miss Universe Organization released the list of judges for the Miss Universe 2023 competition that is set to be held on November 18 in El Salvador.
Dr. Connie Mariano is the Fil-Am physician who is included in this year’s selection committee. She took care of former US presidents Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and Barack Obama.
The physician was born in the Philippines but she was raised in Hawaii. She went to a military medical school where she became the general medical officer and medical department division head at the USS Prairie. Mariano became the first military woman to be appointed White House physician in 1992.
In 1994, she was named as the director of the White House Medical Unit. Before working at The White House, Mariano also served as the division head of the general internal medicine department at Naval Hospital in San Diego. In 2001, she retired from the Navy with a rear admiral rank.

The Miss Universe 2023 preliminary competition will take place on Nov. 15 and on Nov. 16, the national costume will take place.
