A talented artist goes viral online and earned praise from the netizens for his realistic artwork portraying a scene of a fire.
Michael Jay Salcedo, a Facebook user, shared photos of his heartfelt artwork portraying a scene of a fire, where a firefighter is seen carrying an unconscious child. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.
Salcedo, a full-time artist from Davao City shared the story behind his work on Facebook. The artist explained that even a single act of help can make a significant difference in someone’s life.
Michael revealed that this particular painting was his entry in competition with the theme “Di Umuurong sa Pagtulong”. He decided to paint a firefighter as an inspiration and symbol of heroism, not just for firefighters but for all frontliners.
The latter emphasized the sacrifices they make to help those in need, despite having families waiting for them at home.
“Di lang sa mga bumbero kundi sa lahat ng ating frontliners. Na sa kabila ng kanilang pagiging frontliner, may mga pamilya rin silang naghihintay at nangangailangan. Ngunit buwis-buhay pa rin silang tumutulong sa mga nangangailangan na walang pag-iimbot.” Salcedo said.
The talented artist took about 10 days to complete the painting, facing challenges due to a lack of access to a firefighter uniform. He improvised by borrowing a coverall suit from a neighbor who is a seaman and used reflective tape.
The young man also took a photo of a friend to capture the necessary details. He used an iPhone and a Sony mirrorless 85mm f1.8 for the photos shared on social media. The painting itself was created using oil on canvas.
