PAGASA Says Amihan, LPA, Shear Line, and Localized Thunderstorms Will Bring Rains Over Parts of the Country
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that amihan, shear line, and localized thunderstorms will bring scattered rains over parts of the country.
On Tuesday (October 31, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Four weather systems will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA reported that a low-pressure area, northeast monsoon, shear line, and localized thunderstorms will bring rains over parts of the country.
The low-pressure area was last spotted at 470 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes. The LPA and shear line will bring cloudy weather conditions with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Visayas, Bicol Region, Mimaropa, Quezon, and Aurora.
“Ito namang LPA na ating binabantayan [ay] huling namataan sa layong 470 kilometers sa may silangan ng Virac, Catanduanes, at nananatiling mababa ‘yung tiyansa nito na maging isang bagyo within the next 48 hours,” state weather specialist Patrick del Mundo said.
The LPA may dissipate once it moves closer to the Bicol region. Possible flash floods or landslides are expected in the affected area due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Batanes, Cagayan, and Isabela. It will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and the rest of Central Luzon.
The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the remaining parts of the country. Flash floods or landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon will be moderate to rough. Visayas and Mindanao will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA. No gale warning was raised in any part of the country.
