PBBM to Give P22-M Additional Bonus to 2023 Asian Games Medalists
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr (PBBM) will give additional P22 million cash incentives to Filipino medalists from Asian Games 2023.
PBBM greeted the national athletes and coaches with an early Christmas bonus, granting them an additional P22.8 million. This announcement was made during the ‘Night of Appreciation and Gratitude for Filipino Athletes,’ held at the historic Rizal Memorial Coliseum last night.
The grand welcoming and award ceremony was the President’s way of honoring Filipino medalists from the 2023 Asian Games. The Office of the President, in collaboration with the Presidential Communications Office, organized this celebration on the evening of October 25.
This event represented President Marcos’s special recognition of the sacrifices made by athletes and a celebration of their accomplishments. These athletes are considered modern-day heroes, bringing pride, honor, and joy to Filipinos. All 33 Filipino medalists were presented with the Presidential Citation in acknowledgment of their demonstrated excellence and achievements in their respective sports at the recently concluded 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
Based on the report, Marcos Jr also pledged to continue supporting Filipino athletes after their successful campaign at the Asian Games, where they secured four gold, two silver, and 12 bronze medals. He elaborated on plans aimed at addressing longstanding concerns of Filipino athletes, ensuring support for them at every level.
The President also revealed that New Clark City is being developed as a sports hub that athletes can utilize for training. Additionally, he directed government agencies to provide assistance to injured athletes.
