Station commander PMaj. Jake Goles shared details about the tragic incident. The car, despite being automatic, unexpectedly accelerated instead of applying the brakes as it was ascending the road.

The incident caused the vehicle to go off course and collide with the store. Before the child was hit, the car had previously collided with a motorcycle. The accident also left the motorcycle’s driver and another woman, who was shopping at the store, injured.

The driver, who was detained at the Bunawan Police Station, has expressed regret and sought forgiveness from the victims’ families.

The suspect is now facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, serious physical injuries, and damage to property due to the unfortunate incident.

Barangay officials have stepped in to support the victim’s family and the injured individuals, providing assistance in their time of need. The Commission on Elections also emphasized the need for caution among candidates in their campaign activities.
