The SSS members are mostly composed by individuals who are working in the private sector. An SSS membership is required by most private companies and employers in the country for the benefit of their employees as well.

Every month, a member must pay for his/her premium based on the SSS Contribution Table 2023 to maintain an active and updated account. Doing so may qualify a member to the benefits and the SSS loans offered for members with updated accounts.

One of the good things in being a member of the SSS is that its benefits are not limited to the member only. It can extend to the family of the member. For example, if an SSS member dies, his or her family may file for a claim under the SSS Funeral Benefit to obtain assistance for the burian expenses.

The said benefit offer is open for the family of a deceased member who has posted at least one (1) monthly contribution in his/her account. It is open for locally-employed, self-employed, OFW, and voluntary members.

  • If the SSS member who died is employed, the employer must have reported the case of the member to the SSS for coverage.
  • If the deceased SSS member is self-employed, a non-working spouse of an SSS member, or an overseas Filipino worker (OFW), the member must have posted at least one (1) monthly contribution.

With regards to the amount that the family of a deceased SSS member will receive under the SSS Funeral Claim 2023, it will actually depend on the total contributions posted by the member. Meanwhile, here is the range:

  • Minimum amount of Php 20,000.00
