Elementary Teacher Earns Praises from Netizens For His Innovative ‘Reading Apparel’
An elementary teacher from the Pamatawan Integrated School in Subic, Zambales goes viral for his innovative reading apparel.
Teacher Rommel Quinsay, a 40-year-old educator, teaches Grade 3 students at the school. His innovative approach to teaching has captured the imagination of both students and parents, making reading a more engaging and enjoyable experience.
The “Reading Apparel” concept revolves around convincing students to immerse themselves in various English and Filipino texts. These texts are displayed as cut-outs designed to resemble clothing items, complete with hangers, creating the ambiance of a boutique or shop in the classroom.
According to Teacher Rommel, as an elementary teacher, it’s important to think of different methods, strategies, and techniques to capture the students’ attention.
The educator believes that keeping the learning environment engaging and exciting is necessary for primary-grade students who need a variety of activities to avoid boredom inside the classroom.
“Dahil nasa primary grade ako kailangan maraming iba’t ibang estratehiya o teknik sa pagtuturo para madaling matuto ang mga bata at hindi sila maboring sa klase. “Gusto ko kasi sa klase ko ay masaya at maraming activities ang mga bata. Isa sa naisip ko na activity para sa remedial reading ay ito ngang Rommel’s Reading Apparel, ito ay makukulay na babasahin sa wikang English at Filipino na may korteng damit,” Quinsay explained.
The creative teacher considers it an effective teaching method because his students are always excited to come to school. The students find the colorful readings appealing and have improved their reading skills.
He also encouraged his fellow teachers to continue to teach with heart and dedication, especially when it comes to encouraging children to read.
