PAGASA Says LPA and Localized Thunderstorms to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that a low-pressure area and localized thunderstorms will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Thursday (October 12, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. A low-pressure area and localized thunderstorms will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA is monitoring two low-pressure areas in the country, one LPA was spotted at 860 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas while the other one was located at 135 km West of Coron, Palawan.

“Kaninang alas-dos ng madaling araw ay mayroong nabuong LPA dito naman sa may kanluran ng Palawan,” said weather specialist Patrick del Mundo.

Super Typhoon Bolaven is located 2,190 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 215 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 265 kph.

Another tropical cyclone is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

The LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Quezon, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

“Ito’y magpapa-ulan sa maghapon sa ilang bahagi ng Mimaropa, southern Luzon, at gayon din sa ilang bahagi ng Visayas,” he added.

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

The coastal water condition over Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. Visayas, the rest of Luzon, and Mindanao will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
