PAGASA Says Typhoon Jenny Intensified, Enhanced Habagat
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that Typhoon Jenny intensified as it is expected to leave PAR today.
On Thursday (October 5, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Typhoon Jenny will continue to affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA reported that Typhoon Jenny was last spotted 140 kilometers north northwest of Itbayat, Batanes, It has maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour and gustiness of 215 kph.
Typhoon Jenny further intensified and passed very close to Orchid Island near Southern Taiwan. It also enhances the southwest monsoon, which will bring occasional rains over the western portions of Luzon within the next three days.
Jenny will bring moderate to heavy rains over Batanes. Gusty winds are also expected over Babuyan Islands, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte.
The trough of the typhoon will bring cloudy weather conditions with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the rest of Cagayan Valley, the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Ilocos Region.
The enhanced southwest monsoon will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, and MIMAROPA. Due to moderate to heavy rains, possible flash floods or landslides are expected in the areas.
Habagat will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the remaining parts of the country. Flash floods or landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms.
The coastal water conditions over Extreme Northern Luzon will be rough. The rest of Luzon will have moderate to rough coastal waters. Visayas and Mindanao will experience slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.

The weather system is expected to leave the Philippines Area of Responsibility on Thursday afternoon or evening, according to PAGASA.
