Kamikazee Received Full Payment Before ‘Pinalayas’

Kamikazee went viral because of a recent incident in Sorsogon

Pinoy rock band Kamikazee reportedly received full payment for their supposed gig in Casiguran, Sorsogon before Governor Edwin ‘Bobby’ Hamor “shoved them away.”

The band led by Jay Contreras went viral just recently and it has nothing to do with their music. They became a viral topic on social media after a video of the governor stating that the band would no longer perform during the Kasanggayahan Festival surfaced online.

Several speculations about what happened surfaced on social media. There were accusations that the band displayed rude behavior and so the father of the province did not allow them to perform.

Entertainment Gorgy Rula shared in his article in Pilipino Star Ngayon the statement from Jonathan Valdez who coordinated with the Kamikazee for that provincial gig.

Valdez claimed that the Pinoy rock band did not go out of their van for a photo opportunity even though he offered to pay them extra for that. Then, the assistant of the governor told Valdez to stop persuading the band members.

Valdez also stressed that the band got their full talent fee even though they were “pinalayas.” He added that even all the demands that the band had were given by their camp.

Here is the full statement from the coordinator:

“Hindi sila bumababa ng van, in my years in the business ngayon lang ako umiyak at nakikiusap na bumaba na sila for the 2-minute picture. I even told them na singilin nila ako for an additional fee for this. Muntik na akong lumuhod pero–DEADMA!

Until lumapit na ang assistant ni Gov sa akin, ‘Jo, halika. sabihin mo na kay Gov–ayun na, they got what they deserved!

“Pinalayas sila sa Sorsogon at hindi pinasampa. FULLY PAID sila and all their requests were granted even the liquour etc…Binigay lahat and MORE! Spoke to some people in the industry, isa ang common na sinasabi nila—NAKAHANAP NG KATAPAT ang KAMIKAZE”

Amid this issue, the band had not released a statement yet, as of writing. However, Jay Contreras shared a cryptic post on Instagram that caught the attention of many netizens. He captioned his post with “I choose love.”

With this, the entertainment writer said that this incident will most probably affect future bookings for the band.

Back in 2015, Kamikazee announced that they were breaking up. However, in 2018, they had their comeback. In 2020, it was reported that the band would release a song with the 90s iconic band Parokya ni Edgar led by Chito Miranda.
