Diamond Star Maricel Soriano has this message for actors and actresses who want to experience her famous “sampal.”
Maricel is also tagged “Taray Queen” in the entertainment industry but she said that she did not know how this started. There are several movies that showcased her iconic slap and celebrities who have experienced her “sampal” have memorable stories.
Just recently, Kapamilya actress Kim Chiu was the latest “victim” of the Diamond Star’s “sampal.” The Chinita Princess said that she is proud to have experienced the slap of Maricel Soriano.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Bandera, the award-winning actress was asked about her famous “sampal.” She shared that she does not how to fake this kind of scene.
“Kasi, ano, siguro kung comedy madadalian ako, ‘yung hindi masakit. Eh, ganito ‘pag drama hindi ko magawa ‘yung i-control kasi ‘yung galit ko, lahat nandoon,” Maricel explained citing her mother character in Linlang whose two children were cheated on by the same person.
When asked what her reaction is to those who wants to experience her “sampal,” she said, “Naku, sabi ko, huwag! Masisira ang mukha niyo, sabi kong ganoon.”
Veteran actress Ruby Ruiz, who is also part of the series, said that the Diamond Star really gives true emotions in scenes that she does. Ruby added that Maricel seemed to be not acting at all because of how naturally she does her character.
“To date, she’s one of the most napakahusay na artista, walang kupas,” the veteran actress said.
Linlang is a project under ABS-CBN and Dreamscape and this will be exclusively streamed on Prime Video starting October 5. Also included in the cast are Paulo Avelino and JM de Guzman.
