South Korean star Sandara Park speaks about her career in the Philippines and in South Korea.
Famous among K-Pop fans is Sandara Park and recently, in an interview, she quipped something about not leaving the Philippines.
Fondly called DARA by K-pop fans around the world is Sandara Park. She may be a superstar now but she remains to be the Philippines’ Pambansang Krung-Krung. She became famous and rose to stardom in the country between 2004 and 2008.
She joined the first season of the Philippine talent show Star Circle Quest in 2004 and emerged as the second placer in the contest. After winning, she scored various endorsement deals, recording contracts, and onscreen projects in the country.
In 2006, she did the action-fantasy film Super NoyPi. This is the last project she did before she moved to South Korea to be a trainee. Three years later, she was introduced as one of the members of 2NE1, a legendary girl group of the second generation of K-pop along with CL, Minzy, and Park Bom.
And speaking about her career in South Korea, she jokingly expressed that she shouldn’t have just left. This is because she felt like she could have earned more if she stayed in the Philippines and worked out her career.
Starting again from scratch, she opened up about her struggle with Luis Manzano in his vlog. She started with nothing and she started not as the “Sandara Park” that she is in the Philippines.
But despite the hardships, she did not think of letting go. She did not think of giving up because she had this dream to become a South Korean star and she successfully did.
“I was young and I had dream to be a Korean star. So, okay naman. Pero ngayon parang I regret na umalis ako. Kasi feeling ko mas mayaman kayo, sa totoo lang. Kasi sa Korea, sa isang group, hati-hati kami ng payment with the company, with the members. So, hindi kami ganun kayaman,” she expressed in the interview.
