Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Masbate, October 3, 2023
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.8 magnitude quake in Masbate today, Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
Following the 4.9 magnitude earthquake in Surigao del Sur a few days ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake that hit Masbate has a magnitude of 4.8.
The earthquake today that struck Masbate, Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 05:30 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Batuan.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Masbate was located at 12.31°North, 123.78°East – 013 km South 02° West of Batuan. It had a depth of focus of 014 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake but there might be aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, the following intensities and instrumental intensities were recorded in these areas:
