However, the owner of the dog clarified the situation, explaining that it was not their intention to feed the dog to the snake.
According to the owner, local regulations in their area prohibit dogs from roaming freely. Therefore, they opted to house the dog together with their pet python temporarily before turning it over to the authorities.
The python and the dog were never meant to interact or harm each other. The uploader expressed regret, asserting that their intention was not to make the video go viral or exploit it for profit.
The City Environment and Natural Resources Office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Calauag, Quezon, took action by confiscating the python. The agency emphasized the prohibition of keeping any wildlife or exotic animals as pets and reminded the public of the importance of complying with wildlife protection laws.
Currently, the dog is under the care and custody of the Local Government Unit (LGU), to ensure its safety and well-being.
The incident may serve as a reminder of the need for responsible pet ownership and compliance with wildlife conservation laws to protect both animals and the environment.
