Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Davao Occidental, September 26, 2023
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 6.6 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental today, Tuesday, September 26, 2023.
Following the 4.9 magnitude earthquake in Occidental Mindoro a few days ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in the province. According to the agency, the quake that hit Davao Occidental has a magnitude of 6.6.
The earthquake today that struck Davao Occidental, Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 09:39 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Balut Island in the municipality of Sarangani.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 03.18°North, 128.64°East – 434 km South 55° East of Balut Island. It had a depth of focus of 122 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake but there might be aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. No instrumental intensity was logged as well.
