The offenders reportedly made three consecutive attempts at robbery, failing each time to obtain any valuables from their victims.

It was discovered that the assailants frequently changed motorcycles to avoid detection of their modus operandi. Police officers initiated a follow-up operation and monitored the suspects’ activities in the areas they frequented.

The suspects were apprehended when they were flagged down due to a minor on the back of the motorcycle carrying a firearm. The law enforcement officers had been closely tracking them via CCTV and spotted the firearm in one of the suspect’s laps.

“Nasusubaybayan natin sila through CCTV, nakita namin ‘yung modus nila, binantayan na namin. Then na-corner namin sila, nakita na ‘yung baril na hawak doon sa lap ng isa,” said Cruz.

The motorcycle-riding duo have admitted to the crimes and expressed their willingness to face the consequences. They will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition, while authorities await the Korean victim to file a complaint for the robbery case.

The minor suspect will be turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development and undergo a discernment process as part of the legal proceedings.
