Police Authorities Arrest Vietnamese National in Malate for Alleged Indecent Acts

A Vietnamese national in Malate, Manila, was arrested after allegedly engaging in indecent acts, leading to a disturbance in the area.

On Thursday morning, September 14, 2023, CCTV footage installed along a street in Barangay 754 captured a commotion as local authorities pursued a naked man. Prior to this incident, the man had reportedly been confronted by the authorities for engaging in indecent behavior while on the street.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Salvador Tangdol, head of the Police Community Precinct 9 in the Manila Police District, the undressed man was carrying a screwdriver while acting aggressively.

“Inaresto natin dahil doon sa ginagawa niyang hindi maganda sa lugar, may indecent act na ginagawa siya doon,” Tangdol said.

The responding authorities believed that the man was not in the right state of mind during the incident. Police officers attempted to communicate with the man, but he did not speak English or Filipino.

The Vietnamese national is expected to face charges of alarm and scandal, physical injury, and grave threat. He is currently detained at the MPD Headquarters, and the police are in contact with the Vietnamese Embassy regarding the case.
