Vice Ganda, Ion Perez’s Public Apology Might Help It’s Showtime Issue

Vice Ganda and Ion Perez are still a hot topic

The public apology from celebrity couple Vice Ganda and Ion Perez might help the suspension issue that the Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime is facing now.

To recall, the icing incident that Vice and Ion had in one of the episodes of the Isip Bata segment last July caught the attention of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

Reportedly, this was not the only complaint that the board received. Because of that icing incident, MTRCB summoned the producer of the show.

Early this month, MTRCB released a decision suspending It’s Showtime for 12 airing days. Despite the decision, the show continued to air after the Court of Appeals granted it a temporary restraining order.

Based on the article in Balita, during a recent interview, MTRCB chair Lala Sotto was asked if it is possible that the board’s decision would change if Vice Ganda and Ion Perez apologize.

Sotto said, “Honestly, I personally think that, yes, it will help, but siyempre, may kaniya-kaniyang pag-iisip ang board. Hindi ko naman kontrolado ang kanilang kaisipan. Pero yes, makakatulong talaga.”

In line with this issue, it was recalled that Wally Bayola apologized after he cursed on air. Previously, it was revealed that there was a discussion between the TV5 noontime show and MTRCB about that matter.

Wally apologized on air, admitted his mistake, and promised not to make that same mistake again. However, in It’s Showtime‘s case, ABS-CBN stressed that the show did not transgress any law.

Meanwhile, Vice Ganda and Ion Perez are facing criminal charges filed by Kapisanan ng Social Media Broadcasters ng Pilipinas, Inc. (KSMBPI). As of this writing, the celebrity couple has not released a statement yet about this issue.
