PAGASA Says Trough of a Low-Pressure Area to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that a trough of a low-pressure area will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Monday (September 11, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. A low-pressure area and habagat will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that a trough or extension of a low-pressure area, Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, and localized thunderstorms will bring rain showers over some parts of the country.

A Low Pressure Area was last spotted 875 km East Northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon. It will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Batanes and Babuyan Islands.

“Itong nasa labas ay nagpapalakas po ng hanging habagat na siyang nakaka-apekto partikular sa may bahagi ng Mindanao kaya inaasahan natin na magiging maulap ang kalangitan na may malaking tyansa ng pag-ulan sa may bahagi ng Zamboanga Peninsula,” state weather specialist Obet Badrina said.

LPA will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the Bicol region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Romblon. It has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.

Habagat and the localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro as well as Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

The weather agency has also warned the public about possible flash floods and landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the entire country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.

Mababa ang tsansa na maging bagyo,” Anjo Pertierra said.
