Veteran broadcaster Mike Enriquez, 71, passes away.
This has broken a lot of hearts and the entire media company is mourning the passing of the PH media pillar. In a statement released by the GMA network, the veteran broadcaster died on August 29.
Mike suffered from health problems but the reason behind his passing has not been revealed yet. His tandem with Mel Tiangco was remembered and Arnold Clavio, in a post, shared a tribute to the late broadcaster.
In the tribute of Clavio for Enriquez, he shared that they do not only share a profound professional relationship but also a deep friendship. He applauded him for his undeniable contribution and dedication to serving the Filipino people the truth they deserve.
And now, amid the grief of many people due to his passing, Susan Enriquez, speaks about how they are related to each other. Accordingly, they were always mistaken as “mag-asawa”.
But they are not. Enriquez’s wife is Lizabeth Yumping. They don’t have children.
Susan revealed that they are also not relatives. It just so happens that they have the same last name. According to her, she was the first one to join GMA in 1989 while Mike joined in 1995.
Recalling the instances they were mistaken as a married couple, she just quipped based on an interview with PEP, “Madalas kaming napagkakamalang mag-asawa. Idinadaan ko na lang sa ‘Ay, naku, kung asawa ko yan, hindi na ako magtatrabaho!’Hanggang ngayon, napagkakamalang mag-asawa kami.”
Meanwhile, among her last memories with him was he was in a wheelchair.
