Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Davao Occidental, August 30, 2023
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.0 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental today, August 30, 2023.
Following the 5.5 magnitude earthquake in Davao Occidental yesterday, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in the province. The quake hit Jose Abad Santos. According to the agency, it has a magnitude of 4.0.
The earthquake today that struck Davao Occidental, Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 04:00 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit the southernmost municipality in the mainland of the island of Mindanao.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 05.97°North, 125.71°East – 010 km North 52° East of Jose Abad Santos. It had a depth of focus of 169 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake but there may be aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. No instrumental intensity was logged as per the bulletin as well.
