WALANG PASOK – Several local government units declared class suspensions in areas affected by Typhoon Goring.
Over the past few days, Typhoon Goring has brought violent winds and heavy rainfall to the country, resulting in flash floods and landslides in several areas. Goring was last spotted 220 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan.
Goring packs maximum winds speeds of 155 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 190 kph. It is moving northwestward at 10 kph and expected to make a landfall in the vicinity of Batanes on Wednesday (August 30).
As the Philippines prepares for the start of the school year 2023-2024, several regions are bracing for the effects of Typhoon Goring. Some local government units have taken the proper step of suspending classes on August 29, 2023 due to the threat of the typhoon.
Given the possible severity of the typhoon, different LGUs have taken precautionary measures to minimize the risks posed by heavy rainfall, strong winds, and potential flooding. Several areas have announced the suspension of classes across different levels, and in some cases, government office work as well.
The announcement aims to ensure the safety and well-being of students, teachers, and all educational personnel from potential risks due to the inclement weather condition.
