17-Year-Old Teenager Faces Legal Charges for Driving Without Helmet, Stealing Motorcycle
A 17-year-old teenager is facing legal charges after being apprehended for multiple offenses, including being a minor without a helmet and the theft of a motorcycle, during a checkpoint operation in North Fairview, Quezon City.
According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Elizabeth Jasmin, the commander of Fairview Police Station, the teenager’s presented documents did not match the information on his ID, leading to his invitation to the police station for further questioning.
Upon verification, it was discovered that the motorcycle in the teenager’s possession was stolen and matched the description of a reported stolen motorcycle last week. Eventually, the young suspect was apprehended.

When confronted by the owner of the motorcycle, it was immediately recognized as the teenager had previously purchased items from the owner’s convenience store. Security camera footage revealed the minor in front of the store and captured the act when he was seen stealing the motorcycle.
The owner admitted that his child had forgotten to remove the key from the motorcycle when parking it, leading to the carnapping incident. The minor suspect was not able to give a statement as he has been turned over to the Social Services Development Department.
According to Jasmin, the teenager suspect had a dream of owning his own motorcycle to facilitate his work as a loader at a rice store, where he helps with deliveries. The suspect has been subjected to an inquest proceeding due to the violation of the New Anti-Carnapping Law, amongst other charges.
