Maiqui Pineda, the fiancee of Robi Domingo, shares her real condition.
Soon-to-be-wife of Robi Domingo, Maiqui Pineda, opens up about her rare condition that made a great impact in her life.
“What was supposed to be an exciting year of wedding planning, preparing for a new home, and working on my career, life had other plans for me… I got sick,” Maiqui Pineda wrote to her blog.
In a previous article, host Robi Domingo renewed his contract with ABS-CBN and he was emotional during the event. Among the reasons that made Robi emotional during the contract signing was his fiancee Maiqui Pineda.
He did not disclose the reason why Maiqui made him emotional but recently, in a blog, his wife-to-be finally answered the questions of many people.
This year, in her expectation, was supposed to be filled with wedding planning but different plans were served for them. She was diagnosed with dermatomyositis, a rare autoimmune disease.
It causes muscle weakness, inflammation, and skin rash. She is getting treatment “but the journey to recovery is far from over”. She is working on getting better one day at a time.
According to her blog, it all started in April of this year. She was experiencing skin rashes and dryness on her hands and fingers. She also started feeling something in her shoulder and wrist joints that ultimately disabled her to do basic things like slicing her own food because it was too painful to move a muscle.
When she went to the derma, she was told to undergo take an ANA (Antinuclear Antibody) Test and she could not thank her doctor for making this call.
It has taken a lot of time before she got a diagnosis.
She wrote in her blog:
What made it hard was also not knowing what it was and the long wait it took before getting a diagnosis. The crucial test that determined it took three weeks to come out since they had to send it abroad to get the results. Since I already had symptoms, my doctor placed me on oral steroids to manage the pain. It helped a lot.
Meanwhile, Kris Aquino has 5 autoimmune diseases and she is currently in the US for her treatment. What made her condition extra hard is because of her allergy to the steroids.
