PAGASA Says Southwest Monsoon to Affect PH Weather Condition on Saturday (August 5, 2023)

PAGASA UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that southwest monsoon will bring rains over some parts of the country.

On Saturday (August 5, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon will continue to affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that southwest monsoon will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan.

The southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms are expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy weather over Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience similar weather conditions.

The weather agency has warned the public for flooding or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Extreme Northern Luzon will be rough, the rest of Luzon will have moderate to rough waters while Visayas and Mindanao will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.

Typhoon Falcon has battered the country in the past few days, bringing strong winds and heavy rains that have caused flooding in different areas. On Friday (August 5), it was 715 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.

If the typhoon outside the Philippine area of responsibility fades, Habagat is predicted to weaken. Currently, although being outside the country’s boundaries, the typhoon is still enhancing the southwest monsoon.
