PAGASA Says Enhanced Habagat to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA UPDATE – The state weather bureau says an enhanced southwest monsoon will affect Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan.

On Friday (August 4, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The enhanced southwest monsoon will continue to affect the country’s weather conditions.

Typhoon Falcon remains stationary outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. It was last spotted 715 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.

Falcon enhances the southwest monsoon, which will bring overcast skies, rain, and thunderstorms over some parts of the country. However, as Falcon weakens, habagat is expected to weaken eventually.

“Dahil humihina na si Bagyong Khanun, inaasahan din ang paghina ng habagat o ang epekto nito sa ating bansa,” weather specialist Benison Estareja said.

Habagat is expected to bring cloudy weather conditions with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Occidental Mindoro, and the rest of the Ilocos Region and Central Luzon.

The southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms, with flash floods or landslides, are expected over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon will be rough. The Visayas will be moderate to rough, and Mindanao will have slight to moderate to rough surrounding sea conditions.

The weather agency has warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
