AUGUST 2023 HOLIDAYS IN THE PHILIPPINES – Here is a list of the regular holidays and special non-working days in the country next month.
In a year in the Philippines, there are several holidays which come in two (2) main types – regular holiday and special non-working day. These days are usually celebrated in commemoration of a certain event or person who played a significant role in the history of the Philippines.
During holidays, classes and work may be suspended depending on the type of holiday. Many individuals often take these opportunities to spend quality time with their loved ones over good food or some getaway experience. That is why many people surely want to check the August 2023 holidays in the Philippines now that a new month is fast approaching.
This August 2023, the holidays in the Philippines include the commemoration of the Ninoy Aquino Day on August 21, a special non-working holiday, and the National Heroes’ Day on August 28, a regular holiday.
- August 21 Ninoy Aquino Day — special non-working day
- August 28 National Heroes’ Day — regular holiday
During regular holidays, classes in schools and work in both public and private sectors are cancelled. Meanwhile, there are holiday benefits for employees who will be reporting to work during a regular holiday. They will receive an extra pay equivalent to 100% of his or her basic daily rate. These dates are usually marked red in the Philippine calendar.
During special non-working days, duties in government offices are cancelled while employees of the private sector who report to work during this type of holiday receives an additional pay. It is equivalent to 30% of the employee’s basic daily rate.

- Bonifacio Day – November 27 (Monday nearest November 30)
- Christmas Day – December 25 (Monday)
- Rizal Day – December 30 (Saturday)

- Black Saturday – April 8
- Ninoy Aquino Day – August 21 (Monday)
- All Saints’ Day – November 1 (Wednesday)
- Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary – December 8 (Friday)
- Last Day of the Year – December 31 (Sunday)
