Cops Arrest Man for Allegedly Selling Illegal Drugs Through Dating App
Over the past few decades, illegal drugs have been one of the major problems not only in the Philippines but also in various countries around the world. They contribute to the increasing crime rates in the country.
The Philippine government has been implementing stricter rules and regulations to prevent the increase of the crime rate in the country. However, there are some individuals who continue to find new ways to proliferate illegal drugs.
The police authorities arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly selling illegal drugs through a dating app.
According to PLtCol Mark Ballesteros of Cubao PNP, the suspect started engaging in illegal activities in March 2023 and sold illegal drugs to people he met on the dating app. The police authorities launched an operation after receiving information.
“May nakarating sa amin impormasyon na mayroong nagbebentahan ng liquid shabu sa isang dating app. So ginawa namin nagconduct kami ng buy-bust operation sa isang hotel. Base sa aming investigation iniinject nila ito sa kanilang mga katawan itong liquid shabu before sila magtalik para makadagdag ng sex drive,” Ballesteros said.
Several sachets of suspected illegal drugs and two syringes with an estimated street value of P15,000 pesos were discovered from the suspect’s possession during the operation. The suspect also admitted to being involved in the illegal narcotics trade.

Law enforcement organizations are increasingly concerned about the unlawful distribution of drugs via online platforms and dating applications. It presents police with a new difficulty, as these platforms enable anonymity and ease of communication for persons engaging in such illicit operations.
The suspect is now facing charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. This legal action is part of the government’s commitment to combating the illegal drug trade and protecting its citizens’ well-being.
