PAGASA Says Typhoon Egay to Bring Rains Over Some Parts of the Philippines

PAGASA UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that Typhoon Egay rapidly intensifies and will bring rains over some parts of the country.

On Monday (July 24, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Typhoon Egay will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that Typhoon Egay has been last spotted 565 km east of Baler, Aurora. It has maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 170 kph.

Egay is moving 15 kilometers per hour in a westward direction. It has strong typhoon-force winds from its center extending outwards up to 600 km.

The typhoon is expected to cross Luzon and make landfall over Babuyan Islands and Batanes areas on Tuesday evening (July 25) or Wednesday afternoon (July 26).

This typhoon is forecast to cross the Luzon Strait and make landfall or pass very close to the Babuyan Islands-Batanes area between tomorrow late evening and Wednesday afternoon,” Pagasa said.

The weather bureau reported that Egay is expected to further intensify and may reach the super typhoon category within 24-48 hours.

The weather agency has raised tropical cyclone wind signals over some parts of the country.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the western and southern seaboards of Southern Luzon, the remaining seaboards of Visayas, and the eastern seaboard of Mindanao will be moderate to rough.

Small seacrafts are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing into the ocean due to the perilous surrounding sea conditions.
