Cuison recounted her upbringing, where she was raised by her mother, who worked as a laundrywoman, and her father, who was a construction foreman.
“Lumaki kami na nasaksasihan namin kung pano kami tinaguyod ng aking mga magulang. Nag-labandera ang nanay ko at ang tatay ko naman ay foreman sa construction. Tinaguyod nila kami at nakapag-aral [kami] [at] pinili ko mag-OFW dahil pangarap ko magkaroon [ng] bahay na sarili namin, at maiparanas ko sa nanay ko ang kaginhawaan at maayos na pamumuhay,” Lea shared.
As a gesture of gratitude, Lea made a promise to herself that she would take care of her mother and ensure that she no longer had to work or commute, especially now that she is older. This decision brought immense joy to her mother, as she had never experienced a comfortable life before.
The loving daughter revealed that she is gradually turning her dreams into reality for the sake of her parents.
“Walang mas sasaya pa sa magulang na makita ang anak nila na unti-unting natutupad ang pangarap ng anak. May sakit ang nanay ko almost 17 years na siyang nagi-insulin, kaya gusto ko habang malakas pa siya ay makita at maabutan niya pa ang mga gusto ko pa maachieve at alam kong proud ang nanay ko sakin,” she added.
