Netizens found this video a form of blasphemy
On July 12, the word “Blasphemy” became a trending topic on Twitter because of a video of the members of the LGBTQ community appearing to be partying with a member dressed like an image of the Catholic’s “Jesus Christ.”
In this modern era, society has become more open to accepting people with different gender orientations, unlike decades ago. Members of the LGBTQ community have more freedom now in expressing what they feel and think.
Although there are still some prejudices, this is lesser than what this community has endured years ago.
However, a viral video caught the attention of many netizens which for them was going beyond freedom of expression. In a video posted by Twitter user @ama_survivah, it showed the members of the LGBTQ community appeared to be partying.
Then, there was one who is dressed like the “Jesus Christ” image of the Catholic Church. This did not sit well with many netizens. Even those who said that they are members of the LGBTQ community did not like what was shown in the video.
Because of this, many netizens called this “blasphemy” and this word is one of the trending topics on Wednesday. Here are some tweets about this viral video that now has more than 10 million views.
Even Kapuso writer Suzette Doctolero slammed this viral video. She wrote in her tweet, “Offensive. Blasphemy.”
However, there were netizens who defended this viral video, just like what Twitter user @KheyCaasi shared.
